Karaaslan is a joint project of the University of Georgia and CDC (Centers For Disease Control and Prevention), which is the director of the vaccine project, and will primarily work in CDC Biosafety Level 4 laboratories within the scope of this position.

Due to the epidemic potential of the Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Virus and the lack of effective treatment, the World Health Organization considers this virus to be a serious public health threat that may affect three billion people and regards it as one of the pathogens that should be prioritized in Research and Development. Studies for improvement are very important. In addition, our country is among the countries most affected by this virus, with the number of CCHF cases reported annually.

CDC, whose main purpose is to protect public health and safety through disease control and prevention, is one of the world's leading health authorities on research on all diseases, especially infectious diseases.

As a result of the studies to be carried out at the CDC, it is aimed to develop a vaccine that will provide protection against CCHF and to illuminate the immune response that provides protection from the virus, and this information will play an important role in the fight against CCHF.

We congratulate our Expert Researcher Dr. Elif Karaaslan, who will represent our country and our university in such an important project, and we wish her success as the Bezmialem family.
